The season is underway albeit with limited snow cover on the off-piste areas. A quick spell of roller-coaster temperatures after the initial early coverings transformed what was looking to be a promising base for the season.
All is not lost however, more snow is forecast for the next week.
Avalanche risk has been bouncing between 3 & 4 with natural slides on steeper slopes.
Wind loading has filled many of the NE facing bowls with some great early season knee-deep powder.

T.O. Staff - Off-Piste Training
February saw a whole season's worth of snow and weather conditions; from waist-deep 'pow-pow' to heavy sludge via a plethora of wind slabs, ice crusts, death cookies, sugar bases, chalk and LOTS of the good stuff.
To get a feel for all of the above a few of the Off-Piste team instructors from both Tignes & Val d'Isère laid on training sessions for the tour operator staff.
The aim of each session was to discover more of the mountain, raise safety and avalanche awareness, improve technique but most importantly ... having fun...!

Face Est du Charvet, de grosse conditions de poudreuse, génial, marmotte, exellent des traces à faire (même si j'ai un peu fais l'étoile de mer!!) et pour le horspiste de la mine de super conditions dans la forêt, un peu engagé car il ne faut pas louper la sortie, et le dernier campagnule une très bonne fin de matinée avec encore des traces à faire. en résumé neige légère et en quantitée, on a fait nos traces de partout!!!
